The Basic Skills Agency and the Welsh Books Council have put together a travelling exhibition of literacy and numeracy books in English and Welsh. The publications were all shortlisted for the first ever Basic Skills Book Awards, held in Cardiff in late 2003.
Over the last few months, the Basic Skills Book Awards Exhibition has visited a range of events across the country. The exhibition showcases the best quality basic skills reading materials available in a set of attractive exhibition stands. The Agency also provides a powerpoint presentation to accompany the exhibition, helping to identify exactly what makes a good basic skills book
So far, the exhibition has visited a Secondary Training Seminar in Powys, two literacy and numeracy seminars in Cardiff and Llandudno, the National and Urdd Eisteddfodau, and also the Basic Skills Agency's Annual Conference.
To see the exhibition
The exhibition is now available for use by all local education authorities, libraries, and national events, across Wales. The Basic Skills Agency will cover the costs of delivery and collection, and will also provide detailed guidelines on how to set up the exhibition.
A catalogue is available with information on all of the shortlisted publications and where you can get them.
If you are interested in using the exhibition, or would like a copy of the catalogue, please contact Nerys Wyn Jones: neryswynj@basic-skills.co.uk
