The Basic Skills Agency takes accessibility seriously. Our website meets Government standards for accessibility by allowing you to change the text size. We have also provided a button that helps you to increase the size of the text more easily. This is available from the left-hand side of the page throughout the site.
Adjusting Text Size
As well as using the text size button on the left-hand size of the page you can change the text size further by adjusting one of the settings in your browser:
-
Click View in the toolbar along the top
-
Select Text Size, then select the size you want i.e. medium, large, largest
-
The size of the text on the screen will then change. To re-set this, follow the same procedure and select a new size.
You can also change the screen resolution to increase text size:
-
Click Start, Settings and Control Panel
-
Double click on the Display icon and select the Settings tab
-
In the Screen area section reduce the screen resolution to 800x600 to increase the size of the text
-
Click Apply, OK and Yes to confirm the new settings
Changing Background Colour
If you suffer from visual perceptual problems you may wish to change the background colour of pages. It should be noted that this method, although effective for some users, provides only a partial solution to a need for colour overlay, and in some cases it may be necessary to contact your SEN advisor or eyecare practitioner for further advice.
-
Click Tools in the toolbar at the top and select Internet Options
-
Select the General tab and click the Accessibility button
-
Select the box next to Ignore colors specified by web pages and click OK
-
Click Colors (a menu of colours should appear). Select your preferred background colour then click OK.
-
Select the Accessibility option. (4 tick boxes will appear). Tick the three boxes listed under the Formatting heading and click OK
-
Click OK to confirm the new settings
