Phase One

Young girl

Phase One was a three-strand promotion campaign which commenced on the 9th of February 2002. The three strands of the campaign are all quite individual and have distinct purposes but share the slogans ‘Reading, writing and maths. Get them all right’ and ‘Together we can build an even better Wales.’ The campaign is intended to be upbeat and aspirational, promoting the positive aspects of getting better basic skills.

Together, the three strands of the campaign aimed to reach people of all ages, from children to adults. The campaign was underlined by a message that emphasises the value of basic skills for everyone. The campaign targeted children in school, parents and carers, young people and adults, with the intention of being part of a strategy that will have an impact on raising standards of Basic Skills in Wales.
