Evaluation of the Strategic Intervention Grants Programme (2004)

In 2004 the Basic Skills Agency commissioned the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) to conduct an evaluation of the Strategic Intervention Grants (SIGs) programme in Wales.

A shortened version of the final report is available to download below.

The aims of the project were:

  • to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategy and the framework established by the BSA
  • to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategic intervention process established by the BSA
  • to collect qualitative and quantitative evidence about SIGs’ impact
  • to collect and summarise examples of good practice in the form of case studies
